This scene kinda reminds me of a character that Christopher Walken did on SNL called The Continental, where it'd be in first person and The Continental is trying to pick up the girl that we're being viewed as. He also offers the "guest" some champagne and hilariously mispronounces it "sham-pa-gne", then says something hysterically inappropriate to us (playing as the girl) and we try to leave... I guess it was funnier in the 90s but now he's a creep...
